MeisterR Sport-Z Plus Coilovers for Mazda MX5 NA NB (1989-2005) – Monotube Coilovers Tuned for Steering Response

MeisterR Sport-Z Plus coilovers replace the standard dampers and springs on the Mazda MX5 NA NB (1989-2005) with a height adjustable setup designed for spirited road driving and track days on high-grip tyres, with the focus on steering response. Ride height and spring preload adjust independently, so you can set the height without changing how the spring is loaded.

The Sport-Z Plus takes the Sport-Z and tunes it for sharper steering response, giving more control on high-grip tyres while still riding uneven roads well. It uses monotube dampers and cold wound steel springs, with 36 stages of damping adjustment and ride height from standard to approx. 40mm lower.

Installation

The kit bolts in place of the standard suspension. Set the ride height and spring preload, tighten everything to the correct torque, let the suspension settle, then recheck the height and have a four-wheel alignment carried out. We recommend professional fitting.

Can I adjust the ride height?

Yes. Ride height and spring preload adjust independently, so you can set the height without changing spring preload.

How is the damping adjusted?

A single adjuster on each damper gives 36 stages, with compression and rebound adjusted together. Start in the middle and adjust in small steps.

Are these suitable for daily driving?

Yes. They are designed with road use in mind and give a compliant ride with sharper handling than standard.

Do I need a wheel alignment after fitting?

Yes. Changing the ride height alters the suspension geometry, so a four-wheel alignment should be carried out once the car has settled.

Can I use damper extension cables?

Please note current damper extension cables are not compatible with this kit.
