Description

Bilstein B12 Sportline Suspension Kit for Mazda MX-5 ND (2016 onwards) – Deeper Drop and Sportier Handling

The Bilstein B12 Sportline is the lower, sportier of Bilstein's two B12 lowering kits for the Mazda MX-5 ND. It replaces all four dampers and springs with shortened Bilstein B8 performance dampers and Eibach Sportline springs, giving a more aggressive stance and firmer body control than the B12 Pro-Kit.

The dampers are shortened to match the lower spring height, so they keep enough stroke to work properly even with the deeper drop. Everything is developed for this car and fits in place of the factory parts, so there is no cutting or modification to the car.

Performance

  • Ride height: Fixed lowering, deeper than the B12 Pro-Kit (up to approx. 50mm depending on the car)
  • Damping: Fixed, tuned for this car
  • Damper design: Monotube gas-pressure

Ride-height figures are Bilstein's application data for this part number, measured against the car's standard ride height. The actual change depends on the car's engine, equipment and the condition of the parts being replaced.

Key Features

  • Bilstein B8 shortened performance dampers paired with Eibach Sportline springs
  • Deeper drop than the B12 Pro-Kit for a more purposeful stance
  • Firmer body control and less roll through corners
  • Dampers and springs developed and tested together for this application
  • Direct replacement for the factory parts: no cutting or drilling
  • Springs supplied with a parts certificate

What's in the Kit?

  • 2 x front Bilstein dampers (strut or strut insert, as the car requires)
  • 2 x rear Bilstein dampers
  • 2 x front Eibach Sportline lowering springs
  • 2 x rear Eibach Sportline lowering springs

Please note: the photo shows a typical Bilstein B12 kit. The parts for your car are specific to it and will differ in appearance. Top mounts and fitting hardware are not included unless listed above.

Fitment

  • Mazda MX-5 ND (2016 onwards)

Not suitable for: cars with factory electronic damping or self-levelling suspension unless stated above; other generations, body styles or drivetrains not listed above.

Installation

Fitting replaces the dampers and springs at all four corners. Where the car has front struts, they must be dismantled with spring compressors to swap the springs, and where the car uses a strut insert the cartridge cap nut is tightened to 130 Nm with the Bilstein cartridge tool. Check the top mounts, bearings, bump stops and dust covers while everything is apart and replace any that are worn. Let the springs settle for a few hundred miles, then have a four-wheel alignment carried out and check the headlight aim. We recommend professional fitting.

How do I check this fits my Mazda MX-5?

This kit is for the Mazda MX-5 ND (2016 onwards). Check the details in the Fitment section, and if you're unsure, send us your registration or VIN and we'll confirm before you order.

How much lower will my car sit?

Bilstein doesn't list an exact figure for this part in our data. Across the range the drop is fixed lowering, deeper than the B12 Pro-Kit (up to approx. 50mm depending on the car); contact us and we'll check the figure for your car.

Is the ride height adjustable?

No. The B12 gives a fixed drop set by the springs. If you want to set the height yourself, look at Bilstein's B14 or B16 coilovers for your car.

Can I fit this to a car with electronic or adaptive dampers?

This kit uses conventional dampers. If your car has factory electronic damping, check the Fitment notes above, as Bilstein makes separate DampTronic and EVO SE kits for many of these cars.

Do I need a wheel alignment after fitting?

Yes. Changing the ride height changes the suspension geometry, so a four-wheel alignment is needed after fitting. Let the springs settle for a few hundred miles first.

Is it road legal in the UK?

Yes, this kit is designed for road use. As with any suspension modification, you should tell your insurer once it has been fitted.

What's the difference between the B12 Pro-Kit and B12 Sportline?

Both pair Bilstein dampers with Eibach springs. The Pro-Kit gives a moderate drop for everyday comfort; the Sportline sits lower and feels firmer. Not every car has both versions available.

What type of dampers does it use?

Monotube gas-pressure, according to Bilstein's data for this part number. Gas-pressure dampers resist fading when they get hot during hard driving.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. Bilstein suspension is covered against defects in materials and workmanship. Contact us with your order number if you have any problem.
